AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF GRANT APPLICATION FOR
TRANSIT CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT (TCI) FUNDS FOR 1)
CONVERSION OF SHUTTLE BUSES TO COMPRESSED
NATURAL GAS (CNG) AND 2) PURCHASE OF FERRY
VESSEL
WHEREAS, in June 1992, Caltrans has issued a letter
requesting submittal for the 1992 -93 Transit Capital Improvement
Program; and
WHEREAS, the TCI program provides funding for ferry
vessel acquisition and bus rehabilitation; and
WHEREAS, one of the specified Transportation Control
Measures of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD)
1991 Clear Air Plan requires use of alternative modes of
transportation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the
City of Alameda, that said Council authorize staff to apply for TCI
funds for 1) Conversion of shuttle buses to compressed natural gas
(CNG) and 2) Purchase of ferry vessel.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager will be
authorized to submit and carry out the proposed programs and
projects.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 18th day of
August , 1992, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Lucas, Roth
and President Withrow - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
