RATIFYING PUBLIC UTILITIES BOARD ACTION
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF
THE WESTERN AREA POWER ADMINISTRATION
CONTRACT NO. 92-SAO-20054
FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE TO THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA BUREAU OF ELECTRICITY
WHEREAS, the Western Area Power Administration has been
developing and is now implementing a Post-1994 Power Marketing Plan
to allocate Central Valley Project ("CVP") power; and
WHEREAS, development of the Marketing Plan involved a public
process and an environmental assessment that was deemed appropriate
under the National Environmental Policy Act; and
WHEREAS, the Marketing Plan that was developed with City of
Alameda Bureau of Electricity involvement provides for the renewal
of contracts with Western's preference customers, such as the
Bureau, who currently receive CVP power under contracts which
expire in June 1994; and
WHEREAS, Western and the Bureau negotiated a contract which
would provide electric service to the Bureau for a term extending
through December, 2004 with an initial contract rate of delivery of
21,145 kilowatts, which is the same as under the existing contract;
and
and
WHEREAS, CVP power is the Bureau's least expensive resource;
WHEREAS, review of this matter indicates that the Bureau
should execute the contract in order to economically meet the
electric load of its customers; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda City Attorney has approved the contract
as to form; and
WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Board approved the contract and
recommended City Council ratification of its action.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA, that said Council hereby ratifies the Public Utilities
Board's action authorizing the General Manager of the City of
Alameda Bureau of Electricity to execute Western Area Power
Administration Contract no. 92-SA0-20054.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 20th day of
October , 1992, by the following vote to wit:
