COMMENDING JOSEPH CAMICIA FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE CITY OF
ALAMEDA FOR HIS SERVICE AS CITY COUNCILMEMBER
The COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA acknowledges the record,
accomplishments and tenure in office of JOE CAMICIA, Councilmember
of the City of Alameda for the past five and one half years, and
records its appreciation for his faithful service; and
WHEREAS, JOE CAMICIA has served nearly six years as a member
of the Alameda City Council having first been elected in April,
1987; and
WHEREAS, prior to his election to the City Council, JOE
CAMICIA served just short of eight years as a member of the City of
Alameda's Planning Board; and
WHEREAS, in discharging the responsibilities of his office,
JOE CAMICIA served as the City of Alameda's representative on the
Airport Land Use Commission, and as Alternate to the Association of
Bay Area Governments; and
WHEREAS, JOE CWICIA served as the Chair of the City's Airport
Operations Committee, whose main purpose is to advise the Council
regarding proposed expansion plans for the Oakland Airport; and
WHEREAS, JOE CAMICIA has been a leading force in efforts to
streamline and to downsize local government; and
WHEREAS, JOE CAMICIA has been dedicated to long-range fiscal
and strategic planning efforts, and was the leading advocate for
the creation of the City's Finance Committee; and
WHEREAS, out of his commitment to youth and better relations
in the community, he promoted a program of regular meetings between
police officers and students, and at the Council level, initiated
the proposal for the Ethnic and Cultural Diversity Committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City
of Alameda commends and congratulates JOE CAMICIA for the years of
service rendered and his accomplishments, and expresses
appreciation for his devotion to the City in carrying out his
responsibilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Alameda, City Staff, and his many friends throughout the community
extend to JOE CAMICIA their congratulations and best wishes for
continued good health, success, and much happiness.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th day of
