ESTABLISHING GARBAGE RATES FOR 1993
WHEREAS, in 1982 the City of Alameda entered into an
agreement with the Oakland Scavenger Company, a Waste Management
Corporation, for garbage collection for a 20-year period; and
WHEREAS, a Joint Refuse Rate Review Committee, comprised
of representatives from local jurisdictions and special districts
with franchise agreements with Oakland Scavenger Company reviews
all rate increase applications; and
WHEREAS, all existing surcharges used for seniors and/or
low income discount, monitoring gas emission at the dumpsite,
citywide clean up, recycling, and park garbage clean up are to be
'continued; and
WHEREAS, the proposed rates include a surcharge for the
pro-rata share of the Altamont landfill closure/post closure
provisional charges; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2476, passed by the City Council
on February 20, 1990, states that all subsequent rates for
collection and disposal of garbage and refuse shall be set by
Resolution of the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the Council accepts and approves the increase in
garbage collection rates and hereby establishes the 1993 garbage
collection rate effective January 1, 1993; as follows:
Weekly Garbage Service
a) Mini-Can (20 gallon)
b) One Can - 32 gallons
c) Each Additional
32 gallon can
d) Cubic Yard Rate for
refuse and rubbish removal
e) Compacted Cubic Yard Rate
for refuse and rubbish
removal

f) All persons 62 years of age and over and/or meeting Section 8
housing income requirements, shall be entitled to receive a
ten percent (10%) reduction in the rates established under a),
b), and c) above.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th day of
January , 1993, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Lucas and
President Withrow - 3.
NOES: Councilmembers Appezzato and Roth - 2.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
