DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
AS THE SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
FOR ALL MATTERS REGARDING THE CLOSURE AND REUSE OF
ALAMEDA NAVAL AIR STATION AND
ALAMEDA NAVAL AVIATION DEPOT
WHEREAS, Alameda Naval Air Station ( "NAS Alameda") and
Alameda Naval Aviation Depot ( "NADEP Alameda ") have been selected
for closure; and
WHEREAS, the social, environmental, and economic impacts
of base closure and reuse on the City of Alameda are enormous; and
WHEREAS, a prompt and efficient response to base closure
and reuse issues requires that a single point of contact be
established between the City of Alameda and representatives of the
Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, NAS Alameda, and
NADEP Alameda;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee
approved by City Council, is hereby, designated as the single point
of contact to the Department of Defense and its representatives for
all matters regarding the closure and reuse of NAS Alameda and
NADEP Alameda;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this
resolution be forwarded to the Secretary of Defense, Undersecretary
of Defense for Acquisitions, Executive Agent for Base Transition,
Secretary of the Navy, NAS Alameda Transition Coordinator, and
NADEP Alameda Transition Coordinator.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 17th day of
August , 1993, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Appezzato, Lucas, Roth and
President Withrow - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Arnexi.ch 1.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
