AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO
EXECUTE A GRANT CONTRACT WITH THE
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION
FOR PLANTING STREET TREES
WHEREAS, the Small Business Administration (SBA) Tree
Planting Program funds grants to states for the purpose of
stimulating small businesses and providing increased job
opportunities in local communities; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection (CDF) administers this grant program in California and
is accepting applications from state or local government agencies
for various tree planting projects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is an eligible agency for
this grant program; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works, Department is responsible for
the care and maintenance of the City's street trees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the City Council hereby authorizes the Public Works
Director to execute a grant contract with the California Department
of Forestry and Fire Protection.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th day of
November 1993, by the following vote to wit:
