APPROVING ENDORSEMENT OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
ESTABLISHING AN EAST BAY PUBLIC SAFETY CORRIDOR AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTERJURISDICTIONAL
AGREEMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROJECT AND TO EXPEND UP
TO $3,000 ON REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY EFFORTS
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda recognizes, along with other
cities along the East Bay corridor, that crime is not contained by
municipal boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda further recognizes the need for
coordinated action by all the cities alongthe East Bay corridor to
facilitate the best organized public safety response; and
WHEREAS, the police chiefs and city managers of the cities t- 9
within this corridor have been collaborating to create this plan;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda wishes to participate in a joint
agreement of the cities along the East Bay corridor to establish an
East Bay Public Safety Corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Berkeley approves the memorandum of understanding establishing the
East Bay Public Safety Corridor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to
enter interjurisdictional agreements associated with the project
and to expend up to $3,000 on regional public safety efforts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby
authorized to execute the resultant agreement and any amendments
thereto to be on file in the office of the City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed
to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to California
Assemblyman Tom Bates, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, and
Steven C. Szalay, County Administrator, Alameda County.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th day of
March , 1994, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Appezzato, Arnerich, Lucas, Roth
and President Withrow - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
