AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A LEASE
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, AS LESSEE,
AND SHITO AND EIKO SAKAI AS LESSOR, FOR PREMISES
LOCATED AT 625 PACIFIC AVENUE TO BE USED AS
TEMPORARY FIRE DEPARTMENT QUARTERS
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved funding for the
Fire Department to renovate Fire Stations #1 and #2; and
WHEREAS, due to extensive work at Fire Station #2 (635
Pacific Avenue) it is necessary for the fire suppression crews to
move out of the living quarters of the structure and move into
temporary quarters; and
WHEREAS, Shito and Eiko Sakai (herein called "Lessor")
owns that certain real property located at 625-627 Pacific Avenue
in Alameda, California (herein "real property"); and
WHEREAS, the real property abuts the City's fire station
and will allow the continued use of the existing apparatus garage
at Station #2; and
WHEREAS, Lessor desires to lease the real property to the
City of Alameda on the terms and conditions set forth in the Lease
attached to the Staff Report dated. January 3, 1996 and on file in
the Office of the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, the execution of the Lease Agreement is deemed
to be in the best interests of the City of Alameda.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Alameda that:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Alameda
hereby approves and authorizes the execution of the lease between
the City of Alameda Fire Department, Lessee, and Shito and Eiko
Sakai, Lessor.
Section 2. That the form of Lease referred to in the
above, and the terms, conditions and covenants contained therein
are hereby approved.
Section 3. That the City Manager of the City of Alameda
is hereby authorized to execute, for and on behalf of the City of
Alameda, the Lease substantially in the form and containing the
teLLus and conditions and covenants as set out in the Lease attached
to the Staff Report dated January 3, 1996 and on file in the Office
of the City Clerk, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to attest to the same.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th
day of January , 1996, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, DeWitt, Lucas,
Mannix and President Appezzato - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSENTENTIONS: None.
