AUTHORIZING OPEN MARKET PURCHASE OF A
FRONT LOADER/GROUNDS KEEPER TRACTOR
FOR THE RECREATION AND PARK DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Alameda Recreation and Park Department
provides maintenance on all City park properties; and
WHEREAS, the existing Front Loader/Grounds Keeper Tractor
(Loader/Tractor) has served its purpose since 1964; and
WHEREAS, parts are no longer available to repair the
Loader/Tractor; and
WHEREAS, the Loader/Tractor is broken beyond repair; and
WHEREAS, the timely and efficient maintenance of park
grounds has become imperative due to the ever increasing community.c:7,
demand for services; and
WHEREAS, the Loader is needed as soon as possible to
ensure that the City's ball fields can be renovated and maintained
in time for next season; and
WHEREAS, Public Works uses a Ford Front/Loader Grounds
Keeper Tractor; and
WHEREAS, the City mechanic recommends purchase of a Ford d
545D Loader/Tractor in order to ensure compatibility with the tools
and parts currently used by the City garage; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a Ford 545D Loader/Tractor was
approved in the FY 1996-1997 budget; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 3-15 of the City
Charter, the Council may, by four (4) votes, determine that great
necessity requires immediate action and thereupon proceed to
acquire a Ford 545D Loader/Tractor in the open market.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Alameda that pursuant to Section 3-15 of the City Charter,
and by for (4) votes, the City Council hereby authorizes the City
Manager and/or his authorized representative to enter into an open
market purchase for a Ford 545D Front/Loader/Grounds Keeper Tractor
for $40,000 or less without the formal bidding process.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 19th
day of November , 1996, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, DeWitt, Lucas
and President Appezzato - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
