AUTHORIZING AGREEMENT WITH CALTRANS FOR
SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM,
HAZARD ELIMINATION SAFETY PROGRAM FUNDS
FOR PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING, CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING,
AND CONSTRUCTION OF
TRAFFIC SIGNAL PEDESTRIAN INDICATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
(STPLH-5014(012))
WHEREAS, in October 1995, the City submitted the Traffic
Signal Pedestrian Indication Improvement Program for
consideration under the Federal Aid Surface Transportation
Trogram, Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) Program; and
WHEREAS, Caltrans has field reviewed this project to their
satisfaction and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has
granted approval of this project to receive $233,000 in HES Funds
for preliminary engineering, construction engineering and
construction of the Traffic Signal Pedestrian Indication
Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Signal Pedestrian Indication
Improvement Program will provide increased safety and modernize
existing signalized intersections throughout the City by
retrofitting pedestrian "WALK/DON'T WALK" indications at those
locations that are missing them; and
WHEREAS, a Program Supplement Agreement Number 017 to
Administer Agency-State Agreement No.04-5014 covering preliminary
engineering, construction engineering and construction for the
above referenced project must be entered into in order for the
City to be reimbursed for this work; and
WHEREAS, Caltrans requires a resolution from the City's
Council authorizing this agreement; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Alameda hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into
this Agreement with Caltrans for HES Funds for the preliminary
engineering, construction engineering and construction of the
Traffic Signal Pedestrian Indication Improvement Program.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 6th
day of May , 1997, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Kerr, Lucas
and President Appezzato - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
