Resolution 129600 CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO.12960 SUPPORTING THE ALAMEDA ONE -STOP CAREER CENTER WHEREAS, the State of California has supported the implementation of One -Stop Career Centers as a primary method of achieving the California Vision of full employment; and WHEREAS, the Alameda County Private Industry Council, in cooperation with other Private Industry Councils in the region, is the recipient of federal and state Grant Funds to implement a One -Stop Career Center system in Alameda County; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda, the College of Alameda, the cities of Berkeley and Emeryville and other public and non - profit providers of employment and training services in northern Alameda County, have received said Grant Funds to implement One -Stop Career Centers in several north Alameda County locations, including the city of Alameda; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Alameda recognizes the importance of convenient, accessible and comprehensive employment and training services to meet the needs of local residents and businesses; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has devoted staff and financial resources to a collaborative effort resulting in the establishment of the Alameda One -Stop Career Center at the College of Alameda; and WHEREAS, the Alameda One -Stop Career Center will respond to the needs of local job seekers by providing a range of employment training and job counseling and referral services and to the needs of local businesses by providing referrals to qualified candidates and a range of labor market and training resources. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that the City supports the Alameda One -Stop Career Center and encourages local residents and businesses to utilize the One -Stop to achieve the goals of full and productive employment for Alameda businesses and residents. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 17th day of February , 1998, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Kerr, Lucas and President Appezzato - 5.
