COMMENDING KARIN LUCAS FOR TWELVE YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AS VICE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBER
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records its appreciation for the years of
service faithfully rendered by KARIN LUCAS as Vice Mayor and Councilmember of the City of
Alameda; and
WHEREAS, Karin Lucas was first elected to the Alameda City Council on April 19, 1983
and served as Councilmember from May 17, 1983 until May 19, 1987; and
WHEREAS, Karin Lucas was reelected for a second term to the Alameda City Council on
March 5, 1991 and served as Councilmember from April 16, 1991 until December 20, 1994; and
WHEREAS Karin Lucas was reelected to the Alameda City Council on November 8, 1994
and served as Councilmember from December 10, 1994 until December 15, 1998; and
WHEREAS, Karin Lucas was appointed Vice Mayor on April 16, 1991 and served in that
capacity until January 5, 1993; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure, KARIN LUCAS has served on numerous agencies, including,
among others the League of California Cities and The Association of Bay Area Government; and
WHEREAS, KARIN LUCAS'S accomplishments deserve recognition and commendation,
among these as member of the Alameda Reuse and Redevelopment Authority overseeing the
edevelopment of the Alameda Naval Air Station; and
WHEREAS, KARIN LUCAS has been a practicing attorney in the City of Alameda and has
encouraged and supported community business and, community programs; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does
hereby express its sincere appreciation for KARIN LUCAS' contributions of time, effort and
experience for the benefit of the City of Alameda.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda, acknowledging her
energy and resourcefulness, does hereby congratulate KARIN LUCAS on her years and service to
the community and extends its deepest gratitude for her many labors on behalf of the City of
Alameda.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda, City Staff, and
friends and admirers throughout the community and the Bay Area extend KARIN LUCAS their
congratulations and best wishes for continued good health, success and happiness.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 5th day of January , 1999, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson, and
President Appezzato - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Kerr -1.
ABSTENTIONS: None..
