AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
TO PERFORM CONSTRUCTION WORK AT THE CITY SKATEPARK
PURSUANT TO SECTION 3 -15 OF THE ALAMEDA CITY CHARTER
WHEREAS, the City Council on February 2, 1999, approved the reallocation of funds
earmarked for the design of a City Skatepark to be used for construction of a community built
skatepark; and
WHEREAS, construction of the community built skatepark occurred from May 12
to May 23, 1999, resulting in approximately 85% of the skatepark to be completed through volunteer
efforts; and
WHEREAS, Section 3 -15 of the City Charter provides that the City Council, by four
votes, can authorize construction of public work improvements by City employees without contract
when immediate action is required; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that there is a great necessity for
immediate action in order to prevent potential liability issues associated with an uncompleted
skatepark.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Alameda that pursuant to Section 3 -15 of the City Charter, and by four votes, the City Council
hereby authorises the Public Works Department to perfoun construction work at the City Skatepark.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on
the 1st day of June , 1999, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson, Kerr and
President Appezzato - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
