AUTHORIZING CONVERSION OF ATTENDANT - OPERATED PUBLIC PARKING
LOTS LOCATED ON PARK AVENUE AND CENTRAL AVENUE TO TWO -HOUR
METER OPERATION, INCLUDING A PROVISION FOR MONTHLY PARKING
WHEREAS, on June 7, 1990, the City Council approved an agreement with Park Street
Business Association, Inc. (PSBA) to convert Parking Lot `A' located on the west side of Park
Avenue between Santa Clara Avenue and Central Avenue and Lot `C' located on the south side of
Central Avenue between Park and Oak Street from meter parking to attendant lot operation; and
WHEREAS, the above referenced agreement expired on December 15, 2001; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the staff report from Matthew T. Naclerio, Public Works Director,
0 presented to the City Council on January 15, 2002, PSBA and the Development Services
Department desire to revert back to meter operation with provisions for monthly parking; and

WHEREAS, the method of regulation of off - street parking lots shall be determined by the
City Council in accordance with Alameda Municipal Code subsection 12 -4.2; and
WHEREAS, parking meter fees and time limits are established in accordance with Alameda
Municipal Code section 12 -4.4, 12 -4.5, 12 -13.2, 2 -16.4; and City Council Resolution No. 12529;
and
WHEREAS, there is funding in the Parking Meter Fund for the cost of conversion from
attendant - operated public parking lots to meter operation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda, that
parking lots `A' and `C' shall be converted to two -hour meter operation, including provisions for
monthly parking, effective February 1, 2002 or as soon as the parking meters are installed.
