ACKNOWLEDGING FIRE CHIEF, TIMOTHY L. McNEIL,
FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records its appreciation for the years of
service faithfully rendered by TIMOTHY L. McNEIL for the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, TIMOTHY L. McNEIL was first hired by the City in July, 1973 and rose to
the position of Fire Chief; and
WHEREAS, under TIMOTHY L. McNEIL'S able leadership, the City has adopted such
programs in the areas of computer aided records management, various infrastructure fire station
upgrades, purchase of state of the art fire apparatus, implementation of the Advanced Life
Support program, management of a 14 million dollar budget; and
WHEREAS, as a result of his further commitment to the City of Alameda, TIMOTHY L.
McNEIL has been instrumental in the implementation of other significant programs, such as: the
innovative Fire Labor Management Team business model and the Fire Staffing computer
program Telestaff; and
WHEREAS, on February 8, 2002, TIMOTHY L. McNEIL officially retired from his
position as Fire Chief for the City of Alameda; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does
hereby congratulate TIMOTHY L. McNEIL for his outstanding achievement in the Fire Service
field and recognizes him for his commitment and exceptional contributions to the City of
Alameda and to the profession.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda acknowledging
his energy and resourcefulness, does hereby congratulate TIMOTHY L. McNEIL on his years
and service to the citizens of Alameda and extends its deepest gratitude for his many labors on
behalf of the City of Alameda.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting assembled on the 5th
day of March, 2002, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Johnson, Kerr, and Mayor
