FAVORING AND SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF THE EAST
BAY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT FOR AN ADDITIONAL 125
MILLION GA:IONS DAILY OF MATER FROM THE MOYELUMNE
RIVER
WHEREA, the East Bay Municipal. Utility District has filed. with the
State Division of Water Resources application for an additional 125 million
gallons daily of water from the Mokelumne Elver; and
WHEHEAa, the thirteen cities and unincorporated areas comprising the
East Bay Municipal Utility District represent one of the fastest growing eections
in the nation and an adequate supply of water of good quality is essential to the
area to realize its ultimate growth potential; and
WHEREAS, the present rights of said East Bay Municipal Utility District
to 200 million gallons daily of water from the Mokelumne River are not adequate
to meet the area's ultimate requirements; and
(WHEPEAS, there exists in the Mokelumne -River, as yet undeveloped,
supplies cf water of h101 quality; and
MUIEREAS, the East Bay area, through the 'East Eay Municipal Utility
District, already has a heavy investment in the Mokeleunthe River development;
and
WHEREAS, the East Bay Municipal Utility District can make use of its
present storage and transmission facilities to obtain a part of the additional
water needed;
NOW THEREFORE, RE 17 RESOLVED RY THE COUNCIL 02 TFE CITY OF ALAMEDA
that said Council, en behalf of the City cf Alameda, places itself on record
as favoring and supporting the application of the East Ray Municipal Utility
District for an additional 125 million gallons daily of . water from the Mokelumne
River, filed with the State Engineer, State Division of Water 'cs, Depart-
ment of Public Works.

In regular meeting assembled on the lath day of October, 1955, by the following
