WHEREAS, SF 2521 would abolish. the 'State Division. of Housing and trensfer
to local.. health officers, subject to tre supervision of thh State Department of
Public Health, iurisdintion to control end regulhte buildirgE plumhing ard electri-
cal canstructionu and
WHEREAS, health department personnel generally lack the training and
experience necessary to regulate and control the matters set out above; and
WHEREAS, personni 1 the State Dihision. of Housing and the City building
officihlE are well quhdified. to regulate and control sRhb natters;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CONNOTE OF" THE CITY Of APAMEDg that
said Council hereby urges and. requests that said Sehate Bill 2521 he not enacted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Alameda is
hereby-directed to transmit certified copies of this resolution to thp rhpresenta-
tives df the City; of Alameda in the Legislature of the State of Califorpia and to
the Borate Comnittee on. Labor.
