AMENDING MASTER FEE RESOLUTION NO. 12191 TO INCREASE
CITYWIDE PARKING METER RATES
WHEREAS, the Alameda Municipal Code and the California Government Code
provide that the City Council may set fees and rates for the reasonable costs of
providing various services by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, at the August 27, 1991 Special Council meeting,
directed City staff to amend the Alameda Municipal Code to reflect that City fees shall
be set by City Council resolution; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 12191 (Master Fee Resolution), as amended codifies
existing fees for various City services and permits; and
WHEREAS, parking meter rates were last increased in 2007 and are currently
one dollar ($1.00) an hour in certain a reas of the Park Street Business District, fifty
cents ($.50) an hour for other on -street parking, fifty cents ($.50) an hour in the Webster
Street Business District, and fifty cents ($.50) an hour for parking in the City’s lots and
Civic Center Parking Garage; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to increase parking meter rates as follows:
Parking meter rates in the Park and Webster Street Business Districts shall
be raised by fifty cents ($0.50) per hour;
Parking meter rates in City Parking Lots A & C shall be raised by one dollar
($1.00) an hour;
Parking meter rates in the City Parking Lot W shall be raised by fifty cents
($.50) an hour; and
Parking meter rates in Civic Center Parking Garage shall be raised by twenty-
five cents ($.25) an hour.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the parking meter rate increases
described above are a reasonable and appropriate method for regulating the use,
maintenance, service and provision of the City’s parking spaces, off-street parking lots
and parking facilities and that said parking meter rate increases will promote commerce
by providing for appropriate vehicular circulation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Alameda that the following parking meter fee rates are established as set forth below:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all fees, rates and/or penalties established by
Master Fee Resolution 12191 which are inconsistent with the fees, rates and/or
penalties established by this Resolution are hereby repealed.
