CITYOFALAMEDARESOLUTIONNO.14856 ESTABLISHINGAMONTHLYMILEAGEALLOWANCEFORCITY COUNCILMEMBERS WHEREAS,CityCouncilMemberscurrentlyreceivemonthlypaymentsof$92.69 basedonanaverageof167milesasareimbursementforautomotivetravelexpenses incurredwhileconductingofficialCitybusinesswithinthenineBayAreaCounties;and ~ WHEREAS,inordertoformalizetheamountreceivedbyCouncilmembersasa !' monthlyautoallowanceandtobringtheCityincompliancewithInternalRevenue 3 Service(IRS)taxcodesgoverningpaymentsforautoallowances,itisrecommended~ thatCounciladoptaresolutionestablishingamonthlymileageallowanceforCouncil members;and WHEREAS,thenewmileageallowanceisbasedonanaverageof193miles drivenbyCouncilMembersforCitybusinesseachmonth,andtheestablishedIRS mileagerateandwilladjusteachcalendaryearbasedonchangesintheIRSmileage rate.
