RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA,
CALIFORNIA ACCEPTING MEMBERSHIP INTO THE ROCKEFELLER
FOUNDATION’S 100 RESILIENT CITIES NETWORK WHICH INCLUDES
SUPPORT HIRING THE MAYOR’S RESILIENCY OFFICER, AS WELL AS
SUPORT PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTING RESILIENCY EFFORTS.
WHEREAS, through the 100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge the
Rockefeller Foundation has made a $100 million commitment to building urban
resilience in cities around the world; and
WHEREAS, participation in the 100 Resilient Cities Challenge Network
provides the City of Alameda resources to hire the Mayor’s Chief Resiliency Officer,
as well as technical support and resources for developing and implementing plans for
urban resilience, and receive assistance in leveraging billions of additional dollars in
financing and services; and
WHEREAS, on December 1, 2013, the City of Alameda, was selected as an
inaugural Resilient Cities Network Member from more than 600 cities across the
globe;
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that:
1. The City of Alameda accepts membership in the Rockefeller Foundation’s
100 Resilient Cities Network including the resources to hire the Mayor’s Chief
Resiliency Officer and receive technical support a nd resources for developing
and implementing plans for urban resilience, and receive assistance in
leveraging additional dollars in financing and services; and
2. The City Manager, or his designee, shall, subject to the City Attorney’s
approval as to form, have the authority to sign the membership acceptance
agreements, if any.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a reg ular
meeting assembled on the 17th day of December, 2013, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, Ezzy Ashcraft, Tam and Mayor
Gilmore – 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Chen - 1.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
