Resolution 14781 CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 14781 WAIVE BAY-FRIENDLY LANDSCAPE REQUIREMENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 30-59.3 OF THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE FOR RENOVATIONS OF THE GOLF GREENS AT THE CHUCK CORICA GOLF COURSE WHEREAS, the Alameda Municipal Code (AMC) Chapter XXX – Development Regulations, Article IV – Water Conservation Landscaping, Section 30-59 – Guidelines, Subsection 30.59.2 – Basic Requirements for all Projects, Item b – Turf and “Water Area” Limitations requires that “All turf areas shall be planted with predominantly drought tolerant turf grasses defined as species that have a water requirement less than or equal to tall fescue”; and WHEREAS, the AMC Section 30-59.3 – Additional Requirements for Larger Projects, Item f, states “Compliance with the provisions of this section may be waived in unusual circumstances where the Planning Board or City Council has, by resolution, found and determined that the public interest would not be served by complying with such provisions”; and WHEREAS, the Chuck Corica Golf Course is undergoing a major renovation of the driving range, Mif 9-hole course and Jack Clark 18-hole South Course, which includes replacement of golf turf; and WHEREAS, the replacement grasses including bent grass, Kikuyu and fine fescue are similar to the existing grasses at the golf course but are less drought tolerant that the tall fescue; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that, pursuant and subject to all of the terms and provisions of the Harbor and Watercraft Revolving Fund program, application be made to the State of California, Department of Boating and Waterways for funding; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of Alameda is hereby authorized and directed to cause the necessary data to be prepared and application to be signed and filed with the State of California Department of Boating and Waterways. * * * * * * * I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting assembled on the 19th day of March, 2013 by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Chen, Daysog, Ezzy Ashcraft, Tam and Mayor Gilmore – 5.
