AMENDING THE ALEDA MUICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 23-(PROHIBITION ON CAMPING IN CITY PARKS) TO CHAPTER XXIII
(PARKS, RECREATION AREAS AN PUBLIC PROPERTY)
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Alameda that:
Section 1 The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by
adding a new section 23-7 (Prohibition of Camping in City Parks) to
Chapter XIII (Parks, Recreation Areas and Public Property) thereof
to read as follow:
23-Prohibi tion of Camping in Ci ty Parks.
23-Defini tions.
As used in this section:
Camp means to pitch or occupy camp facilities; to use
camp paraphernalia.
Camp facilities include , but are not limited to, tents,
huts, or temporary shelters.
Camp paraphernalia includes, but is not limited to,tarpaulins , cots, beds, sleeping bags , hammocks or non-citydesignated cooking facilities and similar equipment.
Park means the same as defined in section 1- 2 of thisCode.
Store means to put aside or accumulate for use when
needed, to put for safekeeping, to place or leave in alocation.
Street means the same as defined in section 1-2 of this
Code.
23 -Unlawful Camping
It shall be unlawful for any person to camp occupy camp
facilities or use camp paraphernalia in the following areas,
except as otherwise provided:
any park
any street; andc. any public parking lot or public area , improved orunimproved.
23-Storage of Personal Property in Public Places
It shall be unlawful for any person to store personal
property, including camp facilities and camp paraphernalia , inthe following areas, except as otherwise provided by
resolution of the City Council:
any park;
any street; andc. any public parking lot or public area , improved or
unimproved.
Section 2 This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from the
date of its final passage.
