APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF TIDELADS LEASE
BETWEEN PACIFIC SHOPS, INC. AND THE CITY OF ALEDA
WHEREAS, on July 7 , 1970, City Council approved Ordinance No.
1620 authorizing Lease of Real Property between Santa-Fe-Pomeroy,
Inc. and the City of Alamed.a, that property being 3.501 acres
located north of the northe2st line of Clement Avenue; and
WHEREAS, on November 14, 1974, City Council
Resolution No. 8292 Consenting to Assignment of Lease
Bentzen of Real Property Held Under Lease by and between
of Alameda and Santa-Fe Pomeroy, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, on February 21, 1984, City Council approved
Resolution No. 10255 Consenting to Assignment of Lease to Pacific
Shops, Inc. of Real Property Held Under Lease by and between the
City of Alameda and John Bentzen; and
WHEREAS, that Assignment of Lease was entered into on the 5th
day of March, 1984; and
WHEREAS, the term of the current lease expired on May 31 , 1995
and was extended on a month to month basis; and
WHEREAS, a one year lease was entered into on October 18, 1995
and expires October 17, 1996; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Alameda to
enter into a long term lease so that the property can be used forthe promotion, benefit and accommodation of commerce and
navigation; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to City Charter section 3 -, no real
property of the City shall be leased for a period in excess of one
year or sold, except upon the affirmative vote of four members of
the City Council.
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of
Alameda, upon the affirmative vote of four members of the Councilthat:
Section 1 . The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to execute for and on behalf of the City of Alameda, the lease on
file in the Office of the City Clerk, between the City of Alameda
and Pacific Shops, Inc., and the City Clerk is directed to attest
to the same.
Section 2 This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
upon the latter of the expiration of thirty (30) days from the date
of its final passage.

Ordinance was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council
of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 18th
day of June 1996, by the following vote to wit:
