AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A SUBLEASE OF 1701
WEBSTER STREET BETWEEN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AS SUBLESSOR
AND THE AMERICAN RED CROSS-ALAMEDA SERVICE CENTER AS
SUBLESSEE
WHEREAS , on May 16 , 1995 , the City Council approved Ordinance No. 2693 , authorizing
the execution of a lease between the City of Alameda as Lessee , and Bernita Leskowski , Trustee
as Lessor , for a temporary City Hall facility at 1701 Webster Street; and
WHREAS , the City of Alameda, as Sublessor, desires to sublease the real property known
as 1701 Webster Street to the American Red Cross-Alameda Service Center, Sublessee , on
substantially the same terms and conditions set forth in the sublease on file in the Office of the City lerk' and
WHEREAS , the Sublessee , American Red Cross-Alameda Service Center , acknowledges
that the premises are subject to a Prime Lease between the City of Alameda as Sublessor, and
Bernita Leskowski , Trustee , as Prime Lessor, which Prime Lease shall expire on July 1 , 2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAID by the Council of the City of Alameda that:
Section 1 . The City Council of the City of Alameda hereby approves and authorizes the
execution of a sublease between the City of Alameda and American Red Cross-Alameda Service
Center , on substantially the same terms as set forth in the proposed sublease , a copy of which is on
file in the Office of the City Clerk.
Section 2 That the City Manager of the City of Alameda be , and is hereby authorized
to execute , for and on behalf ofthe City of Alameda, the sublease between the City of Alameda and
the American Red Cross-Alameda Service Center , substantially in the form and containing the
substantially similar terms and conditions and covenants as set out in the sublease on fie in the
offce of the City Clerk , and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to attest to the same.
The City Council further delegates to the City Manager the authority to approve any additional
sublease or subleases by the American Red Cross of up to 49% of its leased premises under this
Sublease , if the proposed sublease use is in compliance with the use requirements and restrictions
under the Prime Lease and this Sublease.
Section 3.This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the expiration of
thirty (30) days from the date of its final passage.
