AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNCIPAL CODE BY REPEALING
SECTION 4-3 7 (SATURAY NIGHT SPECIAL/JU GUN SALES PROHIBITION)
OF ARTICLE V (FIREARS AND EXPLOSIVES)
OF CHAPTER IV (OFFENSES AND PUBLIC SAFETY)
WHEREAS , City of Alameda Ordinance No. 2731 , adopted by the City Council on
August 6 , 1996 prohibited the sale of "Saturday Night Specials , also known as "Junk Guns " in
the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS , on January 1 2001 Senate Bi1115 , the state "unsafe handgun" law became
effective (codified at Penal Code Section 12125 , et. seq.); and
WHEREAS , Senate Bi1115 supersedes the existing City Ordinance No. 2731 , and the
City has not been enforcing Ordinance No. 2731 since January 1 2001.
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAID by the Council of the City of Alameda that:
Section 1 The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by repealing section 4-
(Saturday Night Special/unk Gun Sales Prohibition), Aricle V (Firearms and Explosives), of
Aricle V (Firearms and Explosives), Chapter IV (Offenses and Public Safety) in its entirety.
Section 2 This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the expiration
of thirty (30) days from the date of its final passage.
