Resolution 12443CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12443 COMMENDING CONGRESSMAN RONALD DELLUMS FOR HIS EFFORTS TO RETAIN THE ALAMEDA NAVAL AIR STATION AND ALAMEDA NAVAL AVIATION DEPOT AND FOR HIS CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR CONVERSION FROM MILITARY TO CIVILIAN USE WHEREAS, Alameda Naval Air Station ("NAS Alam~da") and Alameda Naval Aviation Depot ("NADEP Alameda'') have been selected for closure; and WHEREAS, Congressman Ronald Dellums fought hard to make the argument that the Department of Defense's plan to close California military bases and rebuild them elsewhere would not save the nation money; and WHEREAS, Congressman Ronald Dellums is now striving to ease the transition from military to civilian economies for the City of Alameda ancl other cities whose bases are slated for closure; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the city of Alameda, that Congressman Ronald Dellums be commended for his efforts to retain the Alameda Naval Air Station and Alameda Naval Aviation Depot; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Alameda, that the efforts of Congressman Ronald Dellums to make Alameda Naval Air Station and Alameda Naval Aviation Depot models for base conversion and reuse will not go unnoticed by the community BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Alameda, that a certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to Congressman Ronald v.
