SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF ALAMEDA
AUGUST 11, 1988
The meeting convened at 12:09 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present:

Absent:
with President Corica presiding.
Councilmembers Camicia, Haugner, Monsef , Thomas and
Corica - 5.
None.
88 -526 President Corica adjourned the Special Meeting to Closed
Session to consider the appointment of a City Manager. At 2:00 p.m.,
the President reconvened the meeting.
Councilmember Monsef made a motion to offer the position of City
Manager to Public Works Director William Norton; Councilmember
Camicia seconded the motion which was carried by a unanimous vote - 5.
President Corica stated a Special Council Meeting will be scheduled
for Tuesday, August 16, 1988, to finalize details.
President Corica commented that he did not want to hire anyone without
prior City Manager experience again; however, due to Mr. Norton's
goals and demonstrated competency in Public Works, and in the spirit
of Council unanimity, he cast a yes vote.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business before the Council, President Corica
a3journed the meeting at 2:05 p.m.
