HELD TUESDAY OCTOBER 29, 1985
The meeting convened at 12:04 p.m. with President Diament presiding.
ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and
President Diament.
Absent: None.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES
85-644 Ordinance No. , N.S. "Approving, authorizing and
directing execution of a lease between the Alameda Unified School
District as lessor and the City of Alameda as lessee relating to the
facilities known as the Alameda and Encinal Swim Centers."
The City Attorney explained that both bond counsel and counsel for
the School District preferred that a series of leases be approved to
facilitate the Swimming Pool Rehabilitation Project.
Councilmember Corica commented that he was not pleased with the
financing arrangements, but he indicated he would not oppose the
project in order that the pools may be be utilized.
Councilmember Lucas moved for introduction of the ordinance; the
motion was seconded by Councilmember Monsef, and carried by the
following vote: Ayes: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef
and President Diament - 5. Noes: None. Absent: None.
85-645 Ordinance No. N.S. "Approving, authorizing and
directing execution of a lease between the City of Alameda as lessor
and ABAG Finance Corporation as lessee relating to the facilities
known as the Alameda and Encinal Swim Centers."
It was moved by Councilmember Hanna, and seconded by Councilmember
Monsef, that the ordinance be introduced. The motion carried as
follows: Ayes: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and
President Diament - 5. Noes: None. Absent: None.
85-646 Ordinance No. N.S. "Approving, authorizing and
directing execution of certain lease financing documents, authorizing
and directing execution of purchase agreement, approving a
preliminary official statement, and authorizing and directing certain
actions with respect thereto, in relation to the Swimming Pool
Rehabilitation Project."
Councilmember Monsef moved for introduction of the ordinance, and
Councilmember Hanna seconded the motion. The motion carried with the
following vote: Ayes: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef
and President Diament - 5. Noes: None. Absent: None.
85-647 "Approving, authorizing and directing execution of a lease
between the City of Alameda as lessor and the Alameda Unified School
District as lessee relating to the facilities known as the Alameda
and Encinal Swim Centers."
It was moved by Councilmember Hanna that the ordinance be introduced,
and Councilmember Lucas seconded the motion, which carried by the
following vote: Ayes: Councilmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef
and President Diament - 5. Noes: None. Absent: None.
ADJOURNMENT
At 12:15 p.m., President Diament adjourned the meeting to an Executive
Session regarding David Herd versus the City of Alameda.
