1976-10-22 Special CC MinutesSPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD FRIDAY - - OCTOBER 22, 1976 The meeting convened at 12:12 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the City Hall with President Corica presiding. ROLL CALL: The roll was called and Councilmen Hurwitz, Sherratt and President Corica, (3), were noted present. Absent: Councilmen Beckam and Diament, (2). 1. Receipt of the Notice and Agenda of this Special Meeting had been acknowledged by the Council- men and was on file. The purpose of this session was for consideration of an extension of time for submission of sealed bids for construction of the Alameda Police Administration Building, and action thereon, if desired. NEW BUSINESS: 2. On request, Police Lieutenant Charles Wood explained the request for an extended bid date was in response to the great demand for plans and specifications which had exceeded the printer's ability to produce them. Extending the date from October 29 to November 4 would allow all bidders more time to prepare their bids. He aslo requested the time to receive bids be staggered to allow submittal of base bids by 3 o'clock p.m. and bids on alternates to the base bid by 4 o'clock p.m. He stated all bids would be opened at 4 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chamber. He reported 80 sets of plans and specifications had been issued and 15 general contractors were expected to submit bids. He stated all planholders would be notified of the change in the hid opening date and time by both certified mail and telephone. RESOLUTIONS: 3. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Sherratt, who moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 8605 Resolution Authorizing Extension of Time for Submission of Sealed Bids for Construction of the Alameda Police Administration Building." The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Hurwitz and carried on the following roll call vote. Ayes: Three. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Beckam and Diament, (2). The President declared the foregoing resolution adopted. ADJOURNMENT: 4.
