HELD THURSDAY AFTERNOON - - - - - - - - JULY 9, 1970
The meeting convened at 5:00 o'clock p.m. with President La Croix presiding.
ROLL CALL:
Noted present were Councilmen Fore, Levy, McCall and President La Croix, Jr., (4). Absent:
Councilman Longaker, (1).
Councilman Levy moved the Council retire to executive session for its deliberations. The motion
was seconded by Councilman McCall and unanimously carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. The Council discussed prospective appointees to serve as members of the various Boards and Commis-
sions of the City.
The City Attorney was requested to prepare appropriate resolutions to effect the appointments to be made,
for action at the next regular meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, July 21, 1970.
2. City Manager Weller, as the Municipal Employee Relations Officer, reported on negotiations with the
representatives of the various City employee groups on salaries and benefits for fiscal year 1970 -1971.
Meetings had been held on this date and final agreement had been reached with regard to Police Department
personnel.
It was determined that the Adjourned Regular Meeting scheduled for 8:00 o'clock this evening would be
cancelled and the Council would meet in special session Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 1970, at 5:00 o'clock,
to take the necessary action to set City employees' salaries for the ensuing fiscal year.
3. Mr. Weller submitted an oral recommendation that, in view of certain extenuating circumstances as
reported by the League office, the Council authorize immediate payment of the annual dues of the League of
California Cities in the amount of $2,500.
Councilman Levy moved authorization be given, as requested and recommended, to pay these annual dues in
the specified amount. The motion was seconded by Councilman McCall and on roll call carried by the follow-
ing vote. Ayes :: Four. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Longaker, (1).
ADJOURNMENT:
4. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Council adjourned, to assemble in
regular session on Tuesday evening, July 21, 1970, at 7:30 o'clock.
