1964-05-21 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD THURSDAY EVENING MAY 21, 1964 The meeting convened at 8:00 o'clock p.m. in Alameda High School Auditorium with President Godfrey presiding. This was for the continuation of the Hearing in the matter of the Redevelopment Plan - "Park Centre Project ". ROLL CALL: Councilmen Freeman, La Croix, Jr., McCall, Rose and President Godfrey, (5), were noted present. Absent: None. HEARINGS: 1. A stenotype operator was present to officially record the proceedings of this meeting and the transcript thereof is, by reference, made a part of the minutes of said meeting. 2. The following persons spoke in opposition to the question: Mrs. June Orr, 1715 Encinal Avenue; Messrs. Raymond Cayere, 2418 Santa Clara Avenue; Conrad Roth, 2101 Central Avenue; G. N. Pope, 1820 Bay Street; William P. Stier, 1623 Moreland Drive; C. J. Dykman, 1312 Oak Street; Edwin Hooper, 5558 Broadway, Oakland, on behalf of the American Home Owners Foundation; Mrs. Jon Roberts, 1721 Pearl Street; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil C. Filed by Mr. McKinstry: Exhibit No. 31 - Article on Page 16 -E, Oakland Tribune, Edition of May 14, 1964. Messrs. C. D. Ramsden, 918 Grand Street (Pacific Coast Engineering Company); and Paul E. Ryder, 1901 High Street (Ryder's Drive In); addressed the Council in support of the proposed Redevelopment Plan. President Godfrey then announced that there were no more requests to speak from any interested parties and he would, therefore, declare this portion of the Hearing closed. The President stated that the meeting would be recessed until Tuesday evening, June 9, 1964, at 7:30 o'clock, in the High School Little Theater for the Council to discuss and answer questions concerning this subject. President Godfrey also stated certain questions had been submitted by Messrs. Robert Kreiss, 1205 Lafayette Street; Donn E. Smart, 1305 Park Street; and Jack A. Paras, 1330 Broadway.
