The meeting convened at 8:00 otclock P. M. with President Weichhart presiding.
ROLL CALL:
1. The roll was called and Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and
President Weichhart, (5), were noted present. Absent: None.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
2. A communication was read from Major R. C. Hunter, Distric
dated January 22, 1940 as follows:
Engineer, War Department,
"Reference is made to your letter of
January 3, 1940, in which you make application to the
Secretary of War for a permit, or other authorization,
for the City of Alameda to go upon, and to operate
jointly with the County of Alameda, the Fruitvale
Avenue Bridge for the period between February 1 and
March 30, 1940.

3. Councilman Godfrey introduced the following ordinance, after which it was laid over
under provision of Law and the Charter.

of California of Certain Lands for Highway Purposes."
RESOLUTIONS:
4. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 2445
Accepting Conveyance from the Regents of the University
of California of Certain Lands for Highway Purposes and
Consenting to the Recordation Thereof."
Councilman Carrington seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote.
Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5). Noes:
None. Absent: None.
5. Councilman Carrington introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 2446
Approving Form and Terms and Authorizing Execution of
a Contract with Thomas J. Kent and Andrew T. Hass for
Rendering Architectural Services in Connection with
the Development of Krusi Park and Appropriating Funds
to Defray the Cost Thereof."
Councilman Maurer seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote.
Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5).
Noes: None. Absent: None.
6. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 2447
Approving Form and Terms and Authorizing Execution of
a Contract with the County of Alameda for Operation
of Fruitvale Avenue Bridge."
Councilman Godfrey seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote.
Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5).
Noes: None. Absent: None.

Amending Section 493 and Repealing Section 494 of
Article 2, Chapter VIII, of Ordinance No. 1, New
Series, and Amending Article 2, of Chapter VIII,
of Ordinance No. 1, New Series, by Adding Section

Councilman Maurer moved that the ordinances presented for passage at this meeting of
the Council be read by title only, as the members of the Council are familiar with the
subject contents. The motion was seconded by Councilman Morris and on roll call carried
by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and
President Weichhart, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Maurer then moved that this ordinance be adopted as designated, seconded by
Councilman Morris and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen
Carrington, Godfrey, Morris and President Weichhart, (5). Noes: None.

8. "Ordinance No. 703
New Series
An Ordinance Repealing Sections 5 -231 to 5 -238
Inclusive of Article 3, Chapter 2, Title V of the
Alameda Municipal Code and Adding to Chapter 2,
Title V, a New Article to be Known as Article 3,
Regulating the Repair of Sidewalks and Other Works."
Councilman Godfrey moved that the ordinance as designated be adopted, seconded by
Councilman Carrington and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Council-
men Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5). Noes: None.
Absent: None.
9. "Ordinance No. 704
New Series
Accepting Conveyance of Certain Easements to the
City of Alameda and Authorizing the Execution of
a Quitclaim Deed to George Windsor et ux."
Councilman Maurer moved that the ordinance as designated be adopted, seconded by
Councilman Carrington and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Council-
men Carrington, Godfrey, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (5). Noes: None.
