HELD TUESDAY EVENING, TANUARY 20, 1942
The meeting convened at 8:00 o'clock P. M. with President Godfrey presiding.
ROLL CALL:
The roll was called and Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and President
Godfrey, (5), were noted present. Absent: None.
MINUTES:
1. The minutes of the regular meeting held January 6, 1942, and of the adjourned
regular meeting held January 13, 1942, were approved as transcribed.
REPORTS OF COMMITTEES:
2. From Mayor Godfrey, requesting a leave of absence from uhe City of Alameda for a
period of thirty days, commencing January 22, 1942.
Councilman Maurer moved the leave of absence be granted to Mayor Godfrey for the period
as requested. The motion was seconded by Councilman Branscheid and unanimously carried.
RESOLUTIONS:
3. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Branscheid, who moved its
adoption:
"Resolution No. 2710
Creating One Additional Position of Police Patrolman
in the City of Alameda."
The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Maurer and on roll call
carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and
President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared
said resolution duly adopted and passed.
4. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Maurer, who moved its
adoption:
"Resolution No. 2711
Accepting Conveyance to the City of Alameda of an
Easement for Levee Purposes on Bay Farm. Island and
Consenting to the Recordation Thereof."
The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Howe and on roll call
carried oy the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and.
President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared
said resolution duly adopted and passed.
5. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Howe, who moved its
adoption:
"Resolution No. 2712
Creating Position of Executive Secretary to the
Civil Service Board of the City of Alameda and.
Fixing Salary Thereof."
The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Jones and on roll call
carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and
President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared
said resolution duly adopted and passed.
6. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Maurer, who moved its
adoption:
"Resolution No. 2713
Fixing the Salaries and Rates of Compensation
for Certain Positions."
The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Branscheid and on roll
call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer
and President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None, Absent: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared
said resolution duly adopted and passed.
7. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Branscheid, who moved its
adoption:
"Resolution No. 2714
Authorizing Execution of Revocable Permit Granting
Permission to the United States of America to
Construct and Maintain Certain Landing Facilities,
a Plank Walk, An Underground Electrical Duct and
Necessary Appurtenances in, on and across Tide and
Submerged Lands of the City of Alameda."
The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Jones and on roll call
carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and
President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared
said resolution duly adopted and passed.
FILING:
8. Copy of Revocable Permit granted to United States of America, re landing
facilities.
BILLS:
9. An itemized List of Claims against the City of Alameda and the several depart-
ments thereof in the total amounts as follows, was presented to the City Council:
General Departments, $11,161.75; Police Department, $3,991.93; Civil Service
Department $54.83; Pound Department, $154.12; Fire Department, $954.62;
Street Department, $962.06; Health Department, $202.15; Recreation Department,
69.05; Park Department, 01,197.64; Golf Course Department, $894.15; Store
Department, $912.61; Social Service Department, $391.78; Initiative Relief
Fund, $244.00; Street Improvement Fund, $327.19; Gas Tax No. 2 Fund, $31,548.21.
Councilman Maurer moved the bills and claims against the City in the amounts listed
and itemized in the List of Claims filed with the City Clerk on January 20, 1942,
and presented to the Council at this meeting, be allowed and paid. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Howe and on roll call carried by the followino. vote. Ayes:
Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None.
Absent: None.
ADJOURNMENT:
10. On motion of Councilman Branscheid, the Council adjourned to meet in adjourned
regular session on Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 1942, at 5:00 o'clock P. M. The
motion was seconded by Councilman Maurer and unanimously carried.
