1942-01-27 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON JANUARY 27, 1942 The meeting convened at 5:00 o'clock P. M. with Vice President Maurer presiding. ROLL CALL: The roll was called and Councilmen Branscheid, Jones and Vice President Maurer, (3), were noted present. Absent: Councilman Howe and President Godfrey, (2). WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: 1. A communication was presented from the Boy Scouts of America, Alameda Council, ex- tending appreciation for the cooperation of City officials and departments during the year 1941. There being no objections, the communication was ordered filed. 2. From Mr. E. S. Agnew, Realtor, submitting a bid of $3.10 per lineal foot for ap- proximately thirty-nine feet of sixteen inch cast-iron sewer pipe now held by the City as surplus stock. After the City Manager had recommended that this bid be accepted, Councilman Branscheid moved the recommendation of the City Manager be adopted and the pipe above referred to sold at the price set forth in the bid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Jones and on roll call carried by the following.vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Jones and Vice President Maurer, (3). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Howe and. President Godfrey, (2). REPORTS OF COLEITTEES: 3. From the Public Utilities Board, requesting authorization from the Council to " dispose of from seven to ten tons of certain scrap iron at a price of $17.50 per ton. . It is understood that the proceeds from this sale will be credited to the General Fund of the City of Alameda. * See bottom of page. vt 4. From the City Manager, accompanied by a certificate of acceptance from the City Engineer, for the improvement of the north half of Buena Vista Avenue west of Webster Street, and recommending that this work be accepted by the City. Councilman Branscheid moved the recommendation of the City Manager and City Engineer be adopted and the north half of Buena Vista Avenue west of Webster Street be accepted by the City. The motion was seconded by Councilman Jones and unanimously carried. ORDINANCES INTRODUCED: 5. Councilman Jones introduced the following ordinance, after which it was laid over under provision of law and the Charter: "Ordinance No. New Series An Ordinance Amending Section 17-432 of The Alameda Municipal Code by Adding Subdivisions (16) and (17) Thereto." RESOLUTIONS: 6. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Branscheid, who moved its adoption: ".Resolution No. 2715 Cancelling City Taxes on Real Property Acquired by The Veterans' Welfare Board of the State of California." The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Jones and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Jones and Vice President Maurer, (3) . Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Howe and President Godfrey, (2). Thereupon Vice President Maurer declared said resolution duly adopted and passed. ADJOURNMENT: 7. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to assemble in regular session on Tuesday evening, February 3, 1942, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. *Councilman Branscheid moved the Public Utilities Board be authorized to dispose of this scrap iron at the figure quoted. The motion was seconded by Councilman Jones and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Jones and. Vice President Maurer, (3). Noes: None.
