1942-06-29 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD MONDAY MORNING t JUNE 29,, 1942 The meeting convened at 8:00 a. m. with President Godfrey presiding. ROLL CALL. The roll was called and. Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and. President Godfrey, (5), were noted present. Absent: None. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: 1. From the City Attorney, requesting authority to file an answer in action entitled, "Frank Fencl, et al. vs. Thomas J. O'Kane, et al., No. 168018," putting plaintiff on his proof and setting forth City's claim for general taxes and special assessment taxes for the fiscal year 1942-1943. Councilman Maurer moved that authority be given to the City Attorney to file an answer as recommended in his report. The motion was seconded by Councilman Branscheid and unanimously carried. 2. The City Clerk reported on the war damage insurance coverage of City property, excluding that under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Board, as compiled with the assistance of representatives of The Home Insurance Company through which this insurance is to be placed. The premium amounts to $665.50. Councilman Branscheid moved that the purchase of this insurance, as explained by the City Clerk, be authorized. The motion was seconded by Councilman Jones and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. RESOLUTIONS: 3. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Branscheid, who moved its adoption: "Resolution No. 2770 Establishing Certain Positions of Employment in the City of Alameda and. Fixing the Salaries and. Rates of Compen- sation for Such Positions and for All Charter Offices and Positions under the Jurisdiction of Said City." The motion to adopt said resolution was seconded by Councilman Maurer and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. Thereupon the Mayor declared said resolution duly adopted and passed. FILING: 4. Financial Statement - Goodell, Byers & Henry - Bureau of Electricity, As of May 31, 1942. BILLS: 5. Warrant in favor of the War Damage Corporation for premium in the amount of $665.50 covering war damage insurance on City property, excluding that under the jurisdiction of the Public Utilities Board, was approved for passage as read. Councilman Maurer moved the above bill and claim against the City be allowed and paid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Howe and on roll call carried by the following vote. Ayes: Councilmen Branscheid, Howe, Jones, Maurer and President Godfrey, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. ADJOURNMENT: 6.
