1939-06-08 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD THURSDAY EVENING, JUNE 8 1939 The meeting convened at 5:03 o'clock P.M. with President Weichhart presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Carrington, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (4), were noted present. Absent: Councilman Godfrey, (1). REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: 1. Communication was presented from the City Manager requesting a change in section (e) of the recommendation which was adopted by the Council on May 2, 1939, regarding send- ing a representative of the City of Alameda and its Municipal Golf Course to the National Public Links Championship Tournament to be held in Baltimore, Maryland, in the month of July, 1939. Councilman. Carrington moved that the recommendation of the City Manager be approved, seconded by Councilman Maurer, and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (4). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Godfrey, (1). 2. From the City Manager and City Attorney recommending the rejection of all bids which were opened at the regular meeting of the Council held June 6, 1939, for furnishing Lumber to the City of Alameda, for the reason that the same do not conform to the pro- visions as set forth pursuant to Specifications No. MS-5-394. Councilman Morris moved that the recommendation of the City Manager and City Attorney be approved and bids for furnishing Lumber to the City of Alameda be rejected and the checks accompanying bids be returned, seconded by Councilman Carrington and on roll call carried by the following voteAym Councilmen Carrington, Maurer, Morris and President Weich- hart, (4). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Godfrey, (1). RESOLUTIONS: 3. Councilman. Morris introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 2369 Approving Memorandum of Agreement for Expenditure of 1/4 Cent Gas Tax Allocated for Streets of Major Importance Other Than State Highways and Authorizing the Execution Thereof." Councilman Maurer seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (4). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Godfrey, (1). 4. Councilman Maurer introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 2370 Adopting Specifications for Furnishing Lumber to the City of Alameda, Calling for Bids and Direct- ing the City Clerk to Advertise the Same." Councilman Carrington seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (4). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Godfrey, (1). 5. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 2371 Adopting Specifications for Boring a Well, Calling for Bids and Directing the City Clerk to Advertise the Same." Councilman Maurer seconded the motion and on roll call carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Carrington, Maurer, Morris and President Weichhart, (4). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Godfrey, (1). UNFINISHED BUSINESS: 6. A report was presented from the Alameda Municipal Transportation League entitled, "Report of the Ability and Economic Justification of a Municipally Operated Ferry and Motor Coach System Between Alameda and San Francisco". There being no objections, the report was referred to the Committee of the Whole. 7. The following papers were presented for filing: Specifications and provisions for furnishing Lumber to the City for the fiscal year 1939-1940. Specifications for Boring a Well on the Alameda Municipal Golf Course. 8. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in adjourned regular session on Thursday afternoon, June 15, 1939, at 5 o'clock P.M.
