The roll was called and Councilmen Bruzzone, Eschen, Morris and Tiedemann, (4) were noted present, Absent: President Murray, (1). From Franck's Music & E1eetric Shop, to which is attached a letter from the Pac ific Radio Trade Association, in reference to radio disturbances caused by faulty electric equipment, and requesting the Council to pass an ordinance to compel those operating disturbing appliances to correct the trouble. On motion of Councilman Morris, seconded by Council Bruzzone and unanimously carried, the communication was referred to the City Manager for investigation. . V V 2. a From, the City Manager, in reference to a petition Signed 'by residents pf Buena Vista Avenue which was presented at the May 1st meeting of the Council and referred to the City Manager.for investigation and report; his recommendation being that Buena Vista Avenue is the proper avenue for the type of travel complained of. The communication was ordered filed. ' -/ 3. A petition, signed by residents of Versailles Avenue, complaining of the use of that avenue by heavy trucks and requesting that the traffic be diverted to a- nother route. On motion of Councilman Bruzzone, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, the communication was referred to the City Manager for investi- gation. and report. 4./ Prom the Taxpayers League, requesting removal of an advertising sign located on proPerty adjacent to 2263 Lincoln Avenue. After it had been pointed out that the City Manager had reported to the Council on March 20th, that he had investigated a petition previously filed bearing the same request, and that the location of the sign was permissible under the City ordinances, the communication was ordered filed. v 5.1,/ From the City Manager, submitting to the Council City Engineer's Drawings Nos. C-1 to C-10, inclusive, covering detail of necessary buildings for the re-building of the Municipal Corporation Yardo.and recommending that a program be adopted for building of a portion of the Yard each year. The communication and drawings were referred to the Committee of the Whole. .2° 6. / From the City Planning Commission, informing the Council that a petition of Mrs. Margaret Conneau for the reclassification of the south-west corner of Lincoln Avenue and Park Street, from Business District, Class III, to Business District, Class V, for the purpose of constructing a gasoline service station, had failed of recommendation by the Commission. On motion of Councilman Bruzzone, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann, and on roll call unanimously carried, the Commission was sustained and the petition denied, after the Council had been addressed by Judge Silver, Messrs Justin and Ward and Mrs. Conneau in favor of the petition, and ad- versely by Judge Weinmann. a 7 From the City Manager, recommending that he be directed to participate joint- , ly with the representatives of ether municipalities throughout the State in an effort to secure an allotment of One (1) Cent of the present Three (3) Cent State Gasoline Tax for use in maintaining and improving City streets, such legislation to be led by the League of California Municipalities, and that the City Attorney be instructed to draft a suitable resolution for adoption. On motion of Council- man Bruzzone, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, the City Manager's recommendation was adopted and the City Attorney requested to draft the resolution. V 8.v From the City Manager referred to communication presented to the Council meeting of May 1st, from the Alameda Council Parent-Teachers Association, in respect to the Walkaway Derby being held at the San Francisco Bay Airdrome, and reporting that a personal investigation had been made of both the day and evenin shows and that there was nothing to indicate anything wrong from a moral standpoi that the Police Department will continue supervision and should anything occur contrary to police regulation, the rnatter will be corrected. The communication was ordered filed. RESOLUTIONS: 9. Councilman Bruzzone introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1840 Resolution Authorizing and Directing the City Manager to Make Applications to the Emergency Relief Administration of the State of California for Emergency Projects Under the Control of the City of Alameda" Councilman Morris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. ORDINANCE INTRODUCED: 12. The following ordinance was introduced and laid over under provision of the Char "Ordinance No. N.S. Ordinance Consenting to the Establishment of Certain Portions of Park Street as Part of the System of Highways of Alameda County".
