HELD TUESDAY EVENING ...,, JULY 3rd, 1934
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock P.M. with President Murray presiding,
The roll was called and Councilmen Eschen, Morris and. President Murray (3) were
noted present. Absent: Councilmen Bruzzone and Tiedemann, (2).
The minutes of the regular meeting of June 19th, 1934, were read and approved.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
LA./ A communication from the Board of Public Utilities, informing the Council that
the municipal bus lines had resulted in a deficit of 08367.04 during the year 1933,
and a total deficit of 02833.34 for the period from August 1930 to December 31st,1933
and requeSting the question of continuing the operation of the buses to be placed on
the ballot at the next election. The communication was referred to the Committee of
the Whole:
v/2. 7 A communication from the City Manager, Ralph M. Bryant, recommending that Mr. H.
P. Nerheim be granted a permit for the installation of underground gasoline storage
tanks at 6ervice station at the northeast corner of Sth Street and Lincoln Avenue,
accompanied by a letter of approval from Thomas M. Lane, Fire Chief, and from E. H.
Rogers, Building Inspector. On motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman
Morris and unanimously carried, the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted
and the permit granted.
A communication from the City Manager in reference to a petition presented at the
,last meeting of the Council, requesting restricted parking on the 1200 block on Park
Street between Encinal and San Antonio Avenues, such parking restriction to be a one-
hour limit between the hours of 9 o'clock A.M. and 6 o'clock P.M. The City Manager
reported that from observation he failed to find any congestion in the block and
recommended against the parking restriction. On motion of Councilman Morris, seconded
by Councilmen Eschen and unanimously carried, the recommendation of the City Manager
was adopted and the petition denied.

Councilman Morris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously*

"Resolution No. 1850
Fixing Salaries of Director-Secretary and Stenographer-
Bookkeeper of the Social Saxvice-Recreation Board."
Councilman Eschen seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
( 7. Councilman Eschen introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1851
Authorizing Execution of Contract with Alameda
Sanatorium on South Shore".
Councilman Morris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
ORDINANCE .INTRODUCED:
8. The following ordinanee was introduced and laid over under provision of the
Charter:
"Ordinance No. New Series
An Ordinance Appropriating and. Authorizing the
Expenditure of Public Moneys for Advertising
for the Fiscal Year 1934-1935 and Designating
the Purposes for the Expenditure of Such Moneys"
