HELD FRIDAY EVENING, JANUARY 25th0........ .... . ........., 1935
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock P.M. with President Murray presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Roebke, Morris Eschen, Tiedemann and Pres-
ident Murray, (5) were noted present.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
V 1." Councilman Roebke read a.communication explaining that in'voting at the Special
Mbeting.of January 22nd, 1935, against approving the sub-lease to the Pan American
Airways, he did so because of the fact that he was not fullyaware of the facts
concerning the sub-lease. The communication was ordered filed.
2./ Councilman Roebke also read a communication signed by himself and :Councilman
elect Broyles in reference to a proposed Charter amendment to be submitted at the
coming Special Election, and referring to a letter from President Roosevelt to
Governor Merriam which refer3 to financing of municipalities of public works
projects The communication lu,s ordered filed.
V 34/From George Hudson, offering to purchase from 500 to 1000 feet of condemned
fire hose for the sum of 01.60 per roll of 50 feet. The communication was referred
to the City Manager.
/7 4. //From the City Manager, accompanied by a report of a survey in connection
with removal, with Federal aid, of various old hulks along the estuary. The
communication was referred to the Committee of the Whole.
5. , From the Alameda Voters' League accompanied by petition signed by 1696
eldctors of the City of Alameda requesting that the Council submit to the electors
of the City a proposal to add a new section to Acticle 10 of the City Charter,
providing that the assent of two-thirds of qualified electors of the City be
required before any indebtedness be incurred that will be a charge upon the
revenue of the Board of Public Utilities which may mature more than one year after
it is incurred. The communication was ordered filed after the Council had been
addressed by Mr. Ferretti in opposition to the request,
RESOLUTIONS:
6. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1902
Calling a Special Municipal Election to be Held in the City of
Alameda on Tuesday, March 12, 1935, for the Purpose of Electing
Commissioners on the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners
and on the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners; Calling
a Special Election to be Held in the City of Alameda on Tuesday,
March 12, 1935 for the Purpose of Submitting to the qualified
Electors of Said City a Proposal to Amend the Charter of the
City of Alameda; Consolidating Said Elections."
Councilman Eschen seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
after Mr. Howard had spoken against its adoption, and Mr. Roebke had moved that the
resolution be amended to exclude calling the Special Election for the Charter
Amendments, which failed of a second.
ORDINANCE PASSED:

Amending Section 304 of the Uniform Building Code of the City
of Alameda, Adopted by Ordinance No. 387, N.S."
Councilman Eschen moved that the ordinance as read be adopted, seconded by Co
man Tiedemann and on roll call passed unanimously.

Authorizing Lease to State of California of Washington Park
Bath House,"
after the Council had been addressed by Messrs. Gottstein and Leydecker in opposi
tion, Councilman Morris moved that the ordinance as read be adopted, seconded by
Councilman Eschen and on roll call passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen
Eschen, Morris, Tiedemann and. President Murray, (4). Noes: Councilman Roebke (1)
