1935-02-25 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALIMEDA HELD MONDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 25th, 1935 The meeting convened at 8 o'clock P.M. with President Murray presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Eschen, Tiedemann and President Murray (3) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Roebke,(1). 1. On motion of Councilman Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Eschen and unanimously carried, the regular Order of Business was suspended in order to transact New Business. v/ On motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann, and unanimously carried, Mr. Bert W. Morris was appointed to the office of Councilman for the unexpir- ed term of Mr. Charles B. Morris, resigned. The Oath of Office of the newly appointed Councilman was then administered by the City Clerk. /3. On motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann and unanimously carried, the regular Order of Business was resumed. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: • From Mayor William F. Murray, appointing Mr. Kenneth C. Smith as a member of the Board of Edudation to fill the unexpired term of Mr. William H. Hitchings, resigned. On motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann and unanimously carried, the appointment was confirmed by the Council UNFINISHED BUSINESS: • A communication from the Smith Lumber Company, referring to previous correspond- ence in reference to the installation of lighting standards on Otis Drive and Park Avenue. On motion of Councilman Esdhen, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann-and unani- mously carried, permission was granted for the installation of standards similar to the present standards in use throughout the City. RESOLUTIONS: y/ 6 Councilman Tiedemann introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1911 Authorizing and DireCting the City Manager to Make Applications to the Emergency Relief Admjnistration of the State of California for Emergency Projects Under the Control of the City of Alameda." Councilman Eschen seconded the motion, and on roll call it was passed by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Eschen, Tiedemann and President Murray (3). Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Reebke,(1). Not Voting: CouncilmAn Morris, (1). ORDINANCES PASSED: "Ordinance No. New Sdries RECLASSIFYING PROPERTY (Property knwon as 1537 Santa Clara Avenue) Councilman Eschen moved that the ordinance as read be adopted, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann and on roll call passed unanimously. 8. "Ordinance No. New Series RECLASSIFYING PROPERTY (Property known as No. 2426 Webb Avenue) Councilman Eschen moved that the ordinance, as read be adopted, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann and on roll call passed unanimously. BILLS: 9. An itemized list of claims against the City of Alameda and the several depart ments thereof in the total amount as follows, was presented to the City Council: General Departments, $7108.75. Councilman Eschen moved, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann that the claims and bills against the City in the amount as listed and itemized in the List of Claims against the City of Alameda, filed with the City Clerk on February 25th, 1935, and presented to the City Council at this meeting, be allowed and paid, and the motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Eschen, Tiedemann and President Murray (3). Noes: None, Absent: Councilman Roebke, (1). Not Voting, Councilman Morris, (1). 10. There being no further business to transact, the Council adjourned to meet in regular 'session on Tuesday, March 5th, 1935, at 8 o'clock P.M. Respectfully submitted,
