1935-03-22 Regular CC MinutesADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA HELD FRIDAY EVENING, MARCH 22nd, 1935. The meeting convened at 8 o'clock P.M. with Vice President Eschen presiding. The roll as called and Councilmen Eschen, Morris and Tiedemann (3) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Roebke and President Murray (2). WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: Y 1. From the Alameda Chamber of Commerce, requesting the Council to pass a resolu- tion declaring opposition to certain proposed State legislation, as represented by A.B. 118 and S.B. 447. The communication was ordered filed. 2./ From Mrs. A. Briotha, 2228 San Jose Avenue, requesting renewal of the temporary permit to conduct an upholstery repair shop in the basement of her home. On motion of Councilman Tiedemann, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, a temporary revokable permit was granted. 73•// From Hollis R. Thompson, City Manager of Berkeley, extending an invitation to the Mayor and City Council to attend Berkeley Seventh Annual Open House at the Berkeley City Hall on March 27th and 28th. The communication was ordered filed. v/4.v/ A communication signed by twenty-six individuals commending the Council on its appointment of Walter P. Koetitz, as City Manager. The communication was ordered filed. t5. From the Alameda Sanatorium, serving thirty-day notioe for the cancellation of an agreement between the City of Alameda and the Alameda Sanatorium for the main- tenance of an emergency hospital and dispensary in the sanatorium. The communication was ordered filed. NEW BUSINESS: /6. Councilman Morris made a motion, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann and unanimous/r carried, that the City Manager proceed to prepare plans and specifications for build- ing a yacht harbor in the western portion of Alameda. v/7. A motion was made by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Tiedemann, and unanimously carried,that then the Council adjourn, it adjourn to meet in adjourned regular meeting on March 28th, 1935 at 8 o'clock P.M. RESOLUTIONS:. '8. Councilman Tiedemann introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1915 Declaring Opposition to Certain Proposed State Legislation, and Urging Delegates to Oppose Said Legislation." Councilman Morris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. I 9. Councilman Morris introduoed and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1916 Resolution Determining the General Nature, Location and Extent of the Proposed Improvement for the Ornamental Lighting of a Portion of Webster Street." Councilman Tiedemann seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimous- ly. 10. Councilman Tiedemann introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1917 Requiring Preparation of Written Report Upon the Proposed Improvement for the Ornamental Lighting of Webster Street." Councilman Morris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. v/11 Councilman Tiedemann introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1918 Authorizing the Establishment and Maintenance of an Emergency Hospital and Dispensary." Councilman Morris Seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. ORDINANCE FOR INTRODUCTION: V 12. The following ordinance was introduced and laid over under provision of the Charter: "Ordinance No. New Series An Ordinance Enacting a Municipal Code." FILING: v 13. Plans and Specifications, Street Lighting on Webster Street, Central Ave. to Segregation Line. v 14. Map, City of Alameda, Webster Street Lighting Assessment Distric 15. There being no further business to transact, on motion of Councilman Tied- emann, seconded by Councilman Morris and unanimously carried, the Council adjourn- ed to meet in adjourned regular meeting on Thursday evening, March 28th, 1935, at 8 o'clock P.M.
