1935-06-18 Regular CC MinutesREGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA' HELD TUESDAY EVENING, JUNE 18th 1935 The meeting was called at 8 o'clock P.M. with President Roebke presiding.. The roll was called and Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris, Munro and Presi- dent Roebke, (5), were noted present. Absent: None. The'minutes of the regular meeting of June 4th, 1935, were read.'Objection was stated by Councilman Eschen, and the minutes were approved as read by the majority of the Council. WRITTEN COMNUNICATIONS: vl. A communication was presented from the Board of Public Utilities Comma sioners, regarding a project for an additional tube under the Estuary, and requesting test borings of the bottom of the Estuary along the proposed location of the tube be made as an essential preliminary measure and also that an engineer to be placed in charge be selected by the Department of Fublic Utilities. Councilman Broyles moved, seconded by Councilman Munro, that the matter be referred to the City Attorney. An amendment was offered by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Eschen, that the Council accept the transfer of 41500.00 from the Department of Public Utilities to defray the cost of test borings on the site of the proposed tube, and that the $1500.00 be re-transferred to the Department of Public Utilities for the purpose. On roll call the amendment lost by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2). Noes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Absent: None. Capt. Edward Bowes, member of the Board of Ptiblic Utilities Commission, addres ed the Council on the matter of the sub-aqueous tube, thereupon Councilman Munro moved for a reconsideration of the previous question, seconded by Councilman Broyles, the offer of the Department of Public Utilities was accepted, and on roll call the motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Morris, Munro and President Roebke, (5). Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from the Board of Public Utilities Commission was presented, re- questing that inuuediate provision be made to transfer to the Department of Public Utilities the control and management of the Municipal Golf Course. On motion of Councilman Broyles, seconded by Councilman Munro, the matter was referred to the City Attorney. 3. Upon motion of Councilman Broyles, seconded by Councilman Munro, the meeting was adjourned to be re-convened at 11 o'clock A.M. on Wednesday, June 19th, 1935. On roll call the motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Broyles, Munro and President Roebke, (3). Noes: Councilmen Eschen and Morris, (2). Absent: None.
