REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING,
FEBRUARY 7, 1933.
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council-President Murray presiding.
The'roll was called and Councilmen Leydecker, Schaefer, Shanly and President
Murray (4) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Morris (1).
The' minutes of the regular meeting of January 17, 1933 were approved os read.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:
1. Mr. Frank Got stein addressed the Council in reference to flood conditions
on Webster Street.
WRITTEN COM:MUNICATIONS:
2.v From the Board of Public Utilities requesting the Council to instruct the
City Attorney to attend all meetings of the Board of Public Utilities. On
motion of Mr. Shanly seconded by Mr. Schaefer, the request was granted.
COMMUNICATIONS:
3. From Hollis R. Thompson, Chairman Gasoline Tax Committee, League of Calif:
brnia Municipalities, expressing appreciation of the Councils' action in approp-
riating 075,00 to the League for expenses of the Gasoline Tax Committee.
The communication was, without objection, ordered filed.
4.!/ From the League of California Municipalities acknowledging receipt of copy
Of Resolution adopted January 17, 1933, appropriating $75.00 as a contribution
of the expenses of Gasoline Tax Committee, and expressing appreciation of the
Councils' action.
5. V From City Treasurer requesting consent of the Council to deposit 0150,000.00
in an inactive account, pursuant to the State laws. On motion of Mr. Leydecker
seconded by Mr. Shanly, and unanimously carried, the Council consented to the
deposit to be made in the Bank of America at an annual interest rate of not less
then 2%.
6./ From North Side Protective Club, protesting against dimishing any of the City
fire equipment. Upon the statement of the City Manager that no such action was
contemplated, the communication was left to him for reply.
7.// From the Bank of America addressed to the City Engineer concerning the removal
of top soil from property belonging to the Cohen Estate, lying adjacent to the High
Street Bridge, providing certain conditions were complied with. On motion of Mr.
Schaefer, seconded by Mr. Leydecker, and unanimously carried, the Mayor was author-
ized to sign an agreement with the Bank of America providing for the grading of the
property mentioned.
8/ From W. R. Calcutt in reference to action of County Supervisors in repairing
Park Street bridge, there being no objection, the communication was left to the City
Manager and the Bridge Head Committee.

Resolution No. 1722.
Instructing City Clerk to Publish Notice
of election and providing for election
officers
10. The motion was seconded by Mr. Leydecker, and the roll call carried unanimously.

Also appointing election officers and fixing
their compensation.
Mr. Schaefer :introduced and moved the adoption of Resolution #1723. Motion was
seconded by Mr. Shanly, and the roll call carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 1724.
11. Authorizing the Mayor to execute in behalf
of the City of Alameda an agreement with
the County of Alameda for furnishing labor
and equipment for the improvement of Otis
Drive.
Mr. Leydecker introduced and moved the adoption of Resolution #1724, Motion
was seconded by Mr. Schaefer and the roll call carried unanimously.

Resolution of acceptance and consent to recordation.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Shanly and the roll call carried, unanimously.
Mr. Schaefer introduced and moved the adoption of -
Resolution No. 1726.
Submitting certain charter amendments and an ordinance
providing for a pension fund for employees of the Police
and Fire Departments of the City of Alameda, said charter
amendments and pension ordinance to be voted upon at the
general municipal election to be held in said city on
Tuesday, March 14, 1933.
The motion was seconded by Mr. Shanly and adopted by the foliowing

The City Clerk stated that since the last meeting of the Council
there had been received for filing affidavit from the Pacific Telephone
and Telegraph Company of the gross receipts from the use, operation
and possession of franchise, and also copy of order extending time for
hearing before the Rail Road Commission.
