HELD TUESDAY EVENING, NOVEMBER 7th,1933
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council President Murray presiding.
The roll was called and Councilman Bruzzone, Eschen, Morris and. President Murray
(4) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Leydecker, (1).

ting of October 17th, 1933, e approved as read.
Vi. -7 From the Board of.Education, enclosing resolution requesting the Council to call
a special election for the purpose of voting upon a bond issue to finance replacement
of Longfellow, Mastick and. Versailles- schools, and for a primary school and kindergar-
ten'in southeast Alameda. The communication was ordered filed.
V From the City Manager, recommending that the bid of Robert Garcia for drilling a
300 ft. 10 inch well for water supply at Franklin Park, at a price of $1,563.91, be ,
accepted, and the contract be awarded to him, he being the lowest bidder. Upon motion
of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Morris, and unanimously carried, the re-
commendation of the City Manager was adopted, and the Mayor was authorized to enter
into a contract for the construction of the well.
v 3. From the City Manager, informing the Council that on September 21st, 1933, the
Board of Supervisors had adopted a new prevailing wage scale for the County of Alameda,
a copy of which was attached to his communication,and recommended that the Council
adopt this wage scale in lieu of the scale which was adopted on September 15th,1931...
On motion of Councilman Morris,seconded by Councilman Bruzzone and unanimously carried
the wage scale suggested by the City Manager was adopted.
From the City Planning Commission recommending that a petition for the reclassi-
fication of the southwest corner of Chapin Street and. Egale Avenue, from Residence
District, Class I, to Industrial District, Class VIII, for the purpose of manufactur-
ing mining machinery and storage, be denied, for the reason that the adjoining prop-
erty is occupied by residences and such a reclassification would be deterimental,to
the neighborhood. Upon motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Morris
and'unanimously carried, the recommendation of the City Planning Commission was a-
dopted.
From the City Planning Commission, in reference to a petition for the reclassi-
fication of the northeast corner:of High Street and San Jose Avenue, from Residence ,
District, Class I, to Business District, Class V, which had previously been before
the Council and referred back to the Planning Commission for a re-hearing, informing
the Council that a request had been received by the Commission for the withdrawal of
the petition and unanimously requested the Council to accept the Commission's recom-
mendation of September 27th, 1933 and deny the petition for the reason that the lo-
cation was not suitable for a gasoline station, and the majority of neighborhood is
opposed to it. Upon motion of Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Bruzzone,
and unanimously carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was adopted,
that the petition be denied.
• 6."' From Ticoulet & Jordan, special accountants for the City of Alameda, submitting
a report of audit and statement of financial activities of the Unemployment Bureau
of the City of Alameda for the period from December 23, 1931 to September 30,1933.
The communication was ordered filed.

carried, the following applications for licenses to sell alcoholic beverages were
approved:

George J. Hofmann and
Claude L. Hanley - 1405 Park St., off license.

Transferring $4,345.38 from Electric Light
Fund to the General Fund."
Councilman Eschen seconded the motion and on roll call it was carrisd. unanimously,

. Councilman Eschen introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1801
Transferring $50,000.00 from the Electric
Light Fund to the General Fund".
Councilman Morris seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
11. Councilman Morris introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1802
Fixing the Salaries of the Officers and
Members of the Following Departments:
Auditor and. Assessor, Building Inspector,
City Clerk, City Attorney, Administrative
Department, Fire, Police, Health, Golf,
Social Service, Streets and Recreation,
City Engineer, Treasurer and'Tax Collector,
of the City of Alameda".
Councilman Bruzzone seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously. The

Declaring and. Determining the Necessity for
the Acquisition and Construction of a Certain
Municipal Improvement, to wit, School Houses."
Councilman Eschen seconded the notion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
13.. Councilman MOlTiS introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1804
Declaring the Necessity and Expediency of
Providing Certain Public Works for Relief
of Unemployed Residents of the City of
Alameda, Specifying, the Public Work to be
Done and the Total Sum to be Withdrawn and
Expended from the" 'Belief Rind" for Such
Purposes".
Councilman Bruzzone seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
ORDINANCES PASSED:

"Ordinance No. New Series,
An Ordinance Designating Buena Vista Avenue
as a Through Boulevard and. Providing for
the Erection of Traffic Stop Signals on
Both Sides of Said Avenue between Webster
and Park Streets at all Intersecting Streets, a
and Requiring the Drivers or Operators of
All Vehicles to Come to a Full Stop at Street
Intersections Before Crossing Said Avenue."
Councilman Eschen moved that the ordinance as read be adopted, seconded by Councilman
Morris, and on roll call carried unanimously.
