HELD TUESDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 5th, 1933
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council President Murray presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Bruzzone, Eschen, Leydecker, Morris and. Pres-
ident Murray (5) were noted present. Absent: None.
The minutes of the regular meeting- of November 21st, 193Z, were approved as
read.
ORAL COIMIUNICATIONS:
k' 1. Mr. R. E. Bosshard addressed the Council in reference to the pruning and planting
of trees in the City streets, and offered his advice and cooperation to the City in
selecting the proper varieties for planting.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:
/" 2.Y From the City Manager informing the Council that he had placed in the hands of
the proper officials of the Southern Pacific Company suggestions for remedying the
ferry service as regards passengers from Alameda. The communication was ordered
filed.
3.i From the City Manager recommending to the Council that Mr. Ira J. Coe be granted
permission to prospect for shells in the San Francisco Bay on the South Shore of the
City. Upon motion of Councilman Eschen, seconded by Councilman Bruzzone and unani-
mously carried, the City Manager was authorized to grant Mr. Coe a temporary revoka-
bleTermit for a period of six (6) months for the purpose mentioned.
V 4.V From the City Manager quoting a communication addressed to him by Mr. A. E. Sin-
clair, president of the East Alameda Improvement Club, in reference to traffic con-
ditions on San Jose Avenue between Park and High Streets, and recommending that the
street be made a boulevard in order to forestall traffic accidents. On motion of
Councilman Bruzzone, seconded by Councilman Leydecker and unanimously carried, the
Council adopted the recommendation and requested the City Attorney to prepare a
proper ordinance for making the necessary change.
UNFINISHED BUINESS:
5•V Councilman Leydecker referred to a previous occasion when he had addressed the
Council in reference to possibility of collecting franchise tax from Pacific Gas
& Electric Company, and stated he was informed that the City Attorney was now neg-
otiating with that Company for the purpose mentioned.
RESOLUTIONS:
6. Councilman Leydecker introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1809
Authorizing E.H.Levy to Compile a Service Record
of Citizens of Alameda who Enlisted in the Service
of their Country in Time of War".
Councilman Eschen seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
7. Councilman Eschen introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1810
Authorizing Payment of December Salaries and Pensions."
Councilman Leydecker seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
8. Councilman Eschen introduced and moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1811
Authorizing Oscar H. Anderson to Take Possession
of Certain Protions ofthe Alameda Golf Course
Club House in the City of Alameda".
Councilman Bruzzone seconded the motion and on roll call it was carried unanimously.
