MONDAY EVENING, SEPT_EMBER 22nd, 1930.
The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council-president Schaefer
presiding.
The roll was called and. Councilmen Calcutt, Latham and President Schaefer
(3) were noted present. Absent: Councilmen Brodersen and. Henning, (2).
The City Clerk stated that since the last meeting of the council the
following Paper had been filed:-

Affidavit of publication of Notice to Bidders Re High Street
The Clerk stated in response to advertised notice to bidders, he was in
receipt of five bids for the construction of High Street sewer. Mr. Latham
moved that the bids be opened and read. The motion was seconded by Mr. Calcutt
and same carried unanimously. Thereupon the Clerk opened and read the bids as
follows:-

There being no objection the bids were referred to the City Engineer for his
report.
3.17 The Clerk stated he was in receipt of a petition presented by Mr. Smith
Anderson, signed by numerous citizens and taxpayers, requesting the installation
of a bowling green in one of the parks, preferably Franklin Park. MT. Calcutt
moved that the petition be referred to the City Manager to report back to the
council his recommendation. The motion was seconded by Mr. Latham and carried .
unanimously.
(4, Councilman Brodersen was noted present.
5/7 The City Manager made a verbal report relative to the application of
Salvatore Cirmelli for the removal of a house from 2315 Central Avenue to a
lot on Lincoln Avenue, between Park and Everett Streets. Mr. Calcutt moved
that permission be granted for the removal of the house. The motion was seconded
by Mr. Latham and same carried unanimously.
6.v Mr. Calcutt moved that the City Attorney be instructed to investigas
as to the legality af passing an ordinance forcing the removal of election
signs throughout the city. The motion was seconded by Mr. Brodersen and
same carriedtnanimously.
7/ City Engineer Hamilton reported as to the results of the bids submitted
for the construction of the High Street Sewer. The City Attorney rendered an
opinion that the low bid of J. T. Clinch could not be considered as it was
defective on account of bond being attached instead of a certified check, and also
for the additional fact that the notary's acknowledgment to the bond did not
show the seal of the notary. After further discussion, Mr. Latham introduced and
moved the adoption of
"Resolution No. 1538.

Mr. Calcutt seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed tinatilmously.
There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to net
in regular seSsion, Tuesday evening October 7th, 1930 at 8 o'clock.
