1932-02-23 Special CC MinutesSPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 23RD, 1932. The meeting convened at 8 o'clock with Council-president Murray presiding. The roll was called and Councilmen Leydecker, Morris, Shanly and. President Murray, (4) were noted present. Absent: Councilman Schaefer, (1). 1. V The Clerk offered fo r filing notice of call of special meeting and affidavit of delivery7of service. Ordered filed. 2.1- The Council was addressed by Captains Brown and Asserson, relative to dredging out of the two hundred foot setback on the south side of Government Island. After discussion, Mr. Morris introduced and moved the adoption of "Resolution No. 1650. Resolution that a Sufficient Appropriation be Made by Congress to Provide for the Dredging out of the 200 foot Setback on the south side of Government, Island. " Mr. Leydecker seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted and passed unanimously. The matter of the proposed change in schedules of the Southern Pacific trains was then discussed. Petitions of protest to any change in the present schedule, signed by 4113 citizens, was presented and filed, as were letters ar protest from the East Alameda Improvement Club, Rolad E. Wagner, Alameda Chamber of Commerce and Alameda Kiwanis Club. Mr. John Wright addressed the Council in pro-! test. After discussion, Mr. Slimly moved that the City Attorney be directed to take all legal steps necessary before the Railroad Commission, to prevent any change in the present schedule. The motion was seconded by Mr. Leydecker and on roll call carried unanimously. There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet in regular session, Tuesday evening, March 1st, 1932, at 8 o'clock. Respectfully submitted,
