REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
HELD TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 15, 1987
The meeting convened at 7:33 p.m. with Chairman Corica
presiding. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner
Camicia.

Thomas, and Chairman Corica - 5. (Monsef
arrived at 7:40 p.m.)
None.
MINUTES
The minutes of the Regular Commission Meeting of August 18, 1987
were approved as submitted on a motion by Commissioner Haugner.
Commissioner Camicia seconded the motion which carried by
unanimous voice vote - 4.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS, GENERAL
87 -45 Fred Scullin, 1120 Chestnut Street„ stated that the
Project Area may be hazardous waste property or border zone
property within the meaning of the Health and Safety Code;
referred to a letter from State of California Governor's Office,
Office of Planning and Research , addressed to all City Planning
Departments, dated August, 1987, which identifies nine toxic
waste sites in Alameda.
Mr. Scullin made special reference to Alameda Gateway Ltd., 2900
Main Street, and the Housing Authority located at 1916 Webster
Street; stated if the Housing Authority site is included in the
Project Area, the Project Area becomes hazardous waste property;
that property within 2,000 feet of a hazardous waste site may be
considered border zone property; that Alameda Marina Village
project and the project for seniors fall within that area; and
concluded that Variances are required for land use on such
properties, e.g. residences. (Mr. Scullin submitted a copy of
the letter to the Secretary for filing.)
There being no further business to come before the Commission,
the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
