TUESDAY- -FEBRUARY 20, 2001- -7:20 P.M.
Chair Appezzato convened the Special Meeting at 7:31 p.m.
Commissioner DeWitt led the Pledge of Allegiance. Reverend David
Borglum, Home of Truth Spiritual Center, gave the Invocation.
ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners DeWitt, Johnson, Kerr and
Chair Appezzato - 4.
Absent: Commissioner Daysog - 1.
MINUTES
(01-02) Minutes of the Special Community Improvement Commission
Meeting of December 19, 2000; and the Special Joint City Council,
Community Improvement Commission (CIC) and Alameda Reuse and
Redevelopment Authority Meetings of December 19, 2000 and January
31, 2001.
Commissioner Johnson moved approval of the Minutes.
Commissioner DeWitt seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous
voice vote - 4. [Absent: Daysog - 1.]
AGENDA ITEMS
(01-03) Resolution No. 01-94, "Approving and Adopting the Report
to the City Council on the Proposed Amendment to the Community
Improvement Plan of the Business and Waterfront Improvement
Project, Submitting Said Report and Proposed Amendment to the City
Council, and Consenting to a Joint Public Hearing on April 3, 2001
on Said Amendment [626 Buena Vista Avenue]." Adopted.
John. Abrate, Alameda Development Corporation (ADC), stated ADC
supports the Resolution to endorse the Joint Public Hearing; ADC
wants to build the best possible homes for affordable housing.
Commissioner Johnson moved adoption of the Resolution.
Commissioner DeWitt seconded the motion.
Under discussion, Commissioner DeWitt stated the ADC has done a
great job with financing [project]; the organization [ADC] obtains
affordable housing in the City of Alameda; the project allows 9
units on six-tenths of an acre, however, he supports construction

of 8 units.
On the call for the question, the motion carried by unanimous voice
vote - 4. [Absent: Daysog - 1.]
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Chair Appezzato adjourned the
Special Meeting at 7:40 p.m.
