Resolution 14988CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 14988
DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULTS OF THE
CONSOLIDATED GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2014
WHEREAS, a consolidated General Municipal Election, under and pursuant
to the provisions of Article XIX of the Charter of said City, was held for the purpose
of electing officers to the office of Mayor and office of Councilmember as set forth
hereafter:
One (1) Mayor of said City for a full term.
Two (2) Councilmembers on the Council of said City for full
terms.
WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in the time, form and manner as
provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election
officers were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted
and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and
declared in the time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the City
Charter; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has received the canvass of returns of the election
and has certified the results to the City Council, the results are received, attached
and made a part hereof, as "Exhibit A."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND DECLARED
BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA and said Council finds, as follows:
(1) That said Consolidated General Municipal Election was held and
conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns
thereof ascertained, determined and declared in all respects and particulars in
the time, form and manner provided by law.
(2) That the whole number of ballots cast in the City of Alameda at said
election was 22,498 and the total number of registered voters at said election
was 44,273.
(3) That the name and total number of votes cast in the City of
Alameda at said election for the office of Mayor of said City was as follows:
Trish Spencer 10,488
Marie Gilmore 10,368
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND
DECLARED that the aforesaid Trish Spencer, having received the highest
number of votes cast for the Office of Mayor, was, and is hereby declared to be,
duly and regularly elected to the office of Mayor of the City of Alameda, for a term
beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m., on the third Tuesday in December, 2014, and
continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and
qualified, and
(4) That the names and total number of votes cast in the City of
Alameda at said election for the office of Councilmember of said City was as
follows:
Jim Oddie 10,231
Stewart G. Chen 9,113
Frank Matarrese 11,103
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND
DECLARED that the aforesaid Frank Matarrese and Jim Oddie having received
the two highest number of votes cast for the office of Councilmember, were, and
are hereby declared to be, duly and regularly elected to the office of
Councilmember of the City of Alameda, for a term beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m.,
on the third Tuesday in December, 2014, and continuing for four (4) years
thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified.

canvassed the returns of all votes cast in the City of Alameda at the General Election held on

for each candidate in the City of Alameda for the office of Mayor.
